Overview
St. Patrick’s House is part of a very integrated community case management practice. We accept client referrals from Corrections Canada, the community detox unit, hospital social worker, methadone clinics, alcohol and drug counsellors, aboriginal band counsellors, probation officers, lawyers, family members, friends and self referrals. Specific agents are provided with client progress reports during and after program completion.
This client group are generally homeless or are in danger of loosing their home due to their present dysfunctional life style. Their problems are often compounded by violence, alienation of family members or being evicted from their home. Clients arrive with a variety of physical ailments, are under-nourished due to poor health care while actively drinking and/or using drugs, and some have mental deficiencies that have made them easy targets on the street for abuse to occur.
In addition, we are one of the few resources that provides residential programming to men with legal conditions are part of their return to the community from prison. Parolees are viewed as a resistant client group and are not considered a good candidate for treatment.
